a Project 9B: Development Proposal b
We are required to prepare a report of Development Proposal of Batu Feringghi Information Centre which consist of six elements as follow.
1. Purpose, goal and objective
The main objective is to carry out site analysis for Batu Feringghi area and propose a design of an information centre. Then, recommend building specification, material selection and construction method for the proposed design and also provide elemental cost analysis for it. The purpose of the report is also to prepare project scheduling of the proposed design.
2. Background study and site analysis
These include studies on the key plan, location plan, and site plan of Batu Feringghi area to find out the suitability and potential of the site. Site inventory and analysis are carried out on the aspect of site location, land use and context, topography, hydrology and drainage, soil, microclimate, vegetation, existing structures, utilities, site function, and problems on site.
3. Proposed design development
Schematic design which include conceptual sketches and bubble diagram, presentation drawings that involve proposed site plan, floor plan, and elevations drawings, perspective drawings of both interior and exterior spaces, and interior section design are all presented under this element.
4. Construction Method, Material Selection & Building Services
This topic discusses the suitable construction method to be used to propose the superstructure and substructure of the information centre. Selection of materials for structure, roof, wall, ceiling, door, floor, sanitary, fencing, and also builing services that only focus on building security systems, fire prevention and control system are listed down.
5. Elemental cost analysis (ECA)
Systematic breakdown of the cost of building according to key elements which include substructure, superstructure, finishes, fittings & furniture, services, external work, and specification in the ECA describing the type and quality of materials to be used in the projects are done.
6. Project Scheduling
Timeframe parameters for projects are set to make sure the project can be completed in time. Role of group members, organization chart of the group, Gantt Chart reporting on actual project which is based on ECA are all provided.
